A macro shot showing the distinct green-to-yellow hue and small bean size of the genuine Khawlani coffee samples provided by Al-Amadi Wholesale Center, Sana'a.

Following our first technical stop, *Yemen Pulse* continues its exclusive tour to document the diversity and quality of Yemeni coffee. On *March 27, 2026*, we returned to "Al-Amadi Coffee" (Haraz Mocha) at their main wholesale center on Al-Rammāh Street, Sana'a, to investigate one of the most legendary names in the world of coffee: Khawlani Coffee.

Historical Origin: The Khawlan Amer Distinction

It is crucial for international investors and coffee enthusiasts to understand a key distinction regarding this prized crop. The *Khawlani coffee* examined today does *not* originate from Khawlan Al-Tiyal (Sana'a Province). Rather, it comes from the ancient terraces of Khawlan Amer (Sa'adah Province).

This geographical distinction is vital because the climate, soil composition, and traditional drying methods in Sa'adah contribute to the unique aroma and flavor profile that has made Khawlani-Sa'adah coffee a highly sought-after commodity across the Arabian Peninsula and global specialty markets.

Technical Evaluation of the Khawlani Sample:

  • Visual Profile: The beans display the characteristic uniformity and dense structure expected of high-altitude Khawlani crops. (Refer to visual evidence above).
  • Source Credibility: Collected directly from Al-Amadi's export-grade inventory in Sana'a, ensuring traceability to the farms in Khawlan Amer, Sa'adah.
  • Key Flavor Notes (Anticipated): Traditionally known for a smooth, complex cup with notes of cardamom and chocolate.

* Mandatory Commercial Disclaimer: The price stated above serves strictly as a *benchmark/indicator* at the precise time of the visit (*March 27, 2026*). Yemeni coffee prices, particularly the highly valued Khawlani-Sa'adah variety, are highly sensitive to market fluctuations, local demand in Sana'a, and export logistics.
