The Golden Glow of Al-Halqa
Inside the Masterful Workshop of Al-Sayrafi Copperware
Step into Al-Sayrafi Copper Shop in the heart of Al-Halqa Souq, and you are immediately surrounded by a shimmering maze of history that stretches from floor to ceiling.
A Visual Symphony of Heritage
Every inch of this artisanal haven is packed with hand-forged treasures. On the left, bathed in a warm golden glow, stand majestic vases, traditional coffee Dallahs, and ornate candelabra. Hanging from above are massive brass horns (Baro'a), prayer beads, and intricately engraved plates that form a literal ceiling of copper.
In contrast, the right side reflects a cool blue ambiance, highlighting an array of traditional water pipes (Shisha), bells, and incense burners (Mabkhara). High on the shelves, a formidable collection of Yemeni daggers (Janbiya) and swords watch over the shop.
Technical & Safety Mastery:
- High-Grade Material: Crafted from premium, heavy-duty brass and red copper.
- Hand-Etched Safety: No industrial chemicals; all patterns are hand-chiseled using traditional, safe methods.
- Craftsmanship: Each piece features authentic mother-of-pearl and enamel inlays.
The center and floor are a bustling treasure trove of miniature brass camels, hand-cranked coffee grinders, and chests that whisper stories of Old Sana'a. This is more than a shop; it is the living cultural resilience of Yemeni artisans preserved by Al-Sayrafi.
